Josher is my nickname---my grandma gave it to me on her deathbed. Feeling the guilt?

i just talked to a girl who's working for an organization that works to supply books to ethiopia. she went there in august to help open up libraries & traveled with about 16 american teachers to give training to ethiopian teachers & librarians. she had a good point that if people go, they come back "enhanced" and more passionate about the cause. and that can be worth the money it takes to get there....that also must be a part of any organization's mission, right? to educate american people about the plight of african communities & culture. and to have something in place that they can contribute to....whether it be their money, time, creative ideas or passing the word along?
anywho, i'm going to meet with her at some point cuz i'm interested in her personal experiences. but i can always gather any questions you all might have and have her speak to some of our concerns. it was great talking to someone with experience about the dilemma of americans coming in with their own ideas and with obvious disregard for history & culture of the people.

ok, another observation. i saw the movie Darfur Now last nite. i think it comes out officially next week. it focused on about 6 different people and what they're doing to help the darfur genocide. in the end it was clear that all these components, even if they're not working together, are effective in the whole scheme of things.
--food
--international criminal courts
--celebrity (don cheadle) to get the problem to the mainstream.
--legislature/divesting in companies that support war
--someone on the ground, in refuge camps
--citizen who joined the rebel forces

those were the components in the movie and it made me think that the idea of that might be helpful. could kaiizen and dfa work on different things that may seem different, but in the end will combat major issues in swaziland.
does any of this make sense? can anyone hear me?

Dawn, Thanks for getting this going! I don't know how to make it so that we get emails, but I'll try and figure it out. Maybe I just need to start checking my gmail account more often. I think it would be great if we brainstorm about what areas we wan to to focus on. Here arre my top 5
1. education For chidlren
2. Aids education
3. Women empowerment andeducation
4. Working to help creat sustainable and renewable food sources
5. education in America about what is going on there.
Dawn are you suggesting that we have multiple focuses? is focuses a word?

not sure what i was getting at. i think this blog thing is taking to long and it's too easy to get swept up by life in the meantime.
i think dfa has to figure out if they want to create something new or work with another organization towards a common goal.
